Setup and Operating Guides for
RTS-DataPak Digital Remote Telemetry Systems

Supplementary Operating Instructions

  • Hyperterminal Setup
  • Adjusting the baud rate of the RTS-DataPak-C/S and RTS-DataPak-G/S.
To adjust the baud rate of the RTS-DataPak-C/S without using a laptop, do the following:
Push the lower button, SW2, once and obtain the RSSI.
Push the lower button again and obtain a read-out of the telephone number.
Push the lower button again and obtain the baud rate.
When you hold the button down, the firmware will cycle through the
    following baud rates:
    b2 indicates 2400,
    b4 indicates 4800,
    b9 indicates 9600,
    b5 indicates 14,400,
    b7 indicates 19,200,
    b3 indicates 38,400.
When you release the button at any indicated baud rates, the firmware will
set this baud rate as the device connect rate.
  • Setting 'Modem Dial Wait' (SETMDW) -- sets the time for connecting the meter when MV90 calls
(mobile-terminated circuit-switched data call). The default value is 5
seconds. This means that the DataPak waits 5 seconds from ring/answer to
connecting the modem. Use: SETMDW <seconds> where seconds is >= 1 and <= 250.
  • Setting 'Modem Answer Wait' (SETMAW) --- determines the waiting time in the reverse direction
(mobile-originated circuit-switched data call). The default value is 20 seconds as shown below but can be set from 1 to 250 seconds. Experience has also shown that the answering modem at MV90 must be set to 9600 baud.
    Use: SETMAW <seconds> where seconds is >= 1 and <= 250.
