Programming instructions for Motorola Series III and IV AMPS
Cellular transceivers

(updated 09-12-02)

TransTel products equipped with Motorola AMPS transceivers can be programmed in USER MODE or TEST MODE. You will need the System ID and cellular telephone number. They are assigned by the cellular carrier after you provide the ESN (electronic serial number) printed on the TransTel product label.

To use TEST MODE proceed as follows:

1.      Connect any handset for Motorola 3-watt cellular transceivers at the RJ45 Radio Program jack.

2.      Power down the unit by depressing the power button of the cellular handset.

3.      Depending on the type of equipment used, slide the TEST/NORMAL or ENABLE/DISABLE switch to TEST or DISABLE as applicable.

4.      Power up the unit from the power button of the cellular handset. The handset LCD screen will show the flashing display of the Status Display Level. This indicates that the transceiver is in TEST MODE .

5.      Press #55# on the handset keypad.

6.      Line 1 is where the System ID is stored. Enter the System ID provided by your cellular carrier and press * to advance to the next line.

7.      Press * again to advance to line 3. This line is for the ten-digit telephone number assigned to the cellular transceiver by your cellular provider.

8.      Enter the ten-digit telephone number.

9.      In most cases only the System ID and the telephone number need to be programmed into the transceiver (if more settings are needed, please see the detailed TEST MODE programming instructions).
At this point press
* to advance to the next line and repeat until you have reached line 16.

10.  Press * again. An apostrophe will appear in the display. This indicates that the transceiver has been programmed.

When programming has been completed, turn off the transceiver. This can be done by de‑energizing the unit or turning off the transceiver from the cellular handset. Slide the switch to NORMAL or ENABLE as applicable. After power-up, the unit is ready for operation in NORMAL MODE.
